Mladic again seeks 6-month delay in trial

(AP) ? Former Bosnian Serb military chief Gen. Ratko Mladic is asking judges to delay by six months the first witness testimony in his trial on charges of masterminding Serb atrocities throughout the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

In a motion released Thursday by the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal, Mladic's defense team says ongoing problems accessing prosecution evidence is hampering their preparations.

Mladic's trial opened May 16, but was halted just a day later because an apparent clerical error by prosecutors meant they failed to disclose thousands of pages of evidence to defense laywers.

The trial is scheduled to resume June 25.

Mladic faces 11 charges including two genocide counts for allegedly orchestrating massacres, illegal sniping and shelling by Serb forces under his command during the war that left 100,000 dead.

He denies wrongdoing.
